"Our goal is to create a market standard for calculating and classifying the carbon footprint of cutting tools, hard materials, and tungsten carbide powders," says Dr. Andreas Lackner, Executive Board Spokesman. Customers can intuitively evaluate emissions using bar lengths and grey gradations, with PCF (Product Carbon Footprint) classifications integrated into product sheets from September 2023.
The PCF is calculated using CO2 footprints of raw materials and production processes, weighted by efficiency factors, and critically reviewed by a third party. It includes Scope 1, Scope 2, and upstream Scope 3 emissions using a cradle-to-gate approach, ensuring transparency and sustainability for your business.
